Students and staff had a magical night in the school library to celebrate our annual Harry Potter Book Night, a global event organised by publisher Bloomsbury.
For 2017 the theme was the Professors of Hogwarts and with the help of students the library had a Hogwarts-style makeover for the event; decorations included floating candles, flying keys, potions and spells.
Mrs McDougall and Miss Kirk welcomed wizards, witches and muggles to the evening’s events which included the Sorting Hat Ceremony wonderfully delivered by Year 9 students, literacy activities, wand making and games.
On completing an activity students were treated to a visit to ‘The Three Broomsticks’ for a ‘Butter Beer’ or a glass of ‘Polyjuice Potion’. ‘Honeydukes Sweet Shop’ had students queuing for chocolate cockroaches, cauldron cakes, acid pops and other sweet delights.
Librarian, Pauline McDougall said: "It went extremely well and we were very pleased to see so many students attend with such enthusiasm. I must congratulate the Student Librarians who contributed to planning and running activities on the night".
